Designer Jessica McClintock is best known for her prairie, Victorian, and Edwardian style dresses. She partnered with Gunne Sax in 1969. Jessica had a BA from San Jose State University, but she put her dream of designing dresses on hold and pursued a career as a school teacher. In 1969, she was invited by Eleanor Bailey to partner in the company, and Eleanor eventually handed the reigns to Jessica. Gunne Sax was founded as a retail store in San Francisco in 1967 by partners Elanor Bailey and Carol Miller. Their focus was on vintage inspired fashions with elements drawn from a variety of time periods, all very romantic and feminine. From the 1980s forward, they shifted to more modern silhouettes with tight bodices and full skirts. In 1987, Jessica renamed the label Jessica McClintock. McClintock, now in her 80s, oversees licensing of the brand worldwide.

Fashions at The RetroFab are second hand vintage, newer, and new with tags. They may have small flaws, which will be articulated in the descriptions. We believe in SLOW FASHION around these parts.
