Champagne Gold Faux Crocodile Handbag Liz Claiborne

Champagne Gold Faux Crocodile Handbag Liz Claiborne

There’s a pretty subtle shimmer to this champagne gold faux croc material. Great mid-size bag with a retro vibe. Love the tasseled bow accent, the box styling. In great used condition with minimal signs of wear. Magnetic snap clasp. Wipe clean.

Liz Claiborne began her fashion career as a sketch artist for Tina Leser. She designed for several fashion houses. Finding herself frustrated with the lack of stylish, affordable fashion for working women, she partnered with Art Ortenberg, Leonard Boxer, and Jerome Chazen to launch Liz Claiborne Inc. in 1976. This venture proved hugely successful, the first year garnered 2 million dollars in sales! Liz had a different vision for her fashions, innovating the concept of designer collections being showcased in separate departments. She rejected hierarchical male structure, championing equality for all employees by creating an alphabetical directory. Liz Claiborne Inc. was the first company founded by a woman to make the Fortune 500 list, making Liz the first woman to be CEO and Chairwoman of a Fortune 500 company. Liz retired in 1989 and that year the company posted 2.2 billion dollars in sales. In the late 1990s, the company purchased an array of high end brands including Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, and DKNY. The brands were marketed to JC Penneys, which forced Liz’s long term partner Macy’s to cut back on their orders, causing the company to post it’s first ever loss in 2007. The brand was sold to JC Penney in 2011.

Fashions from The RetroFab are second hand vintage, newer, or new with tags. They may have flaws, which we will endeavor to articulate in the descriptions. We believe in SLOW FASHION around these parts!
