Evan Picone was started in 1949 by salesman Charles Evans. Charles envisioned adding a fly/zipper to women’s skirts, and enlisted the talents of Joseph Picone to create a prototype. Evans and Picone formed a partnership with seed money from Evans’ father and began manufacturing skirts. Evans also innovated darts in the pockets of women’s clothing to prevent tears. The skirts were a huge success, and Evan-Picone made several million dollars for the founders in the first two years. Evans sold Evan-Picone to Revlon in 1962 for 12 million dollars cash!
