MidCentury Modern Tilso Golden Fantasy Wall Plaque

MidCentury Modern Tilso Golden Fantasy Wall Plaque

20.00

This is part of a series of Golden Fantasy Figurines from Tilso of Hong Kong. This is in good vintage condition with some small signs of aging, including breakage of the lute strings. Still has the original tag. It is hand painted, and features a three dimensional elfin figure playing a lute against a faux velvet backdrop framed in scalloped gold plastic. Figure is wearing a golden tunic, boots, and cap. There’s a large plastic leaf strategically placed at hip length. We love kitsch around these parts, and this is some serious kitsch. Includes d-rings on back for hanging.

12” tall

5” wide

3” back to front

The Tilso Japanese Import Company was founded in 1913 by L. Batlin and Son who originally ran an antique store. After the Great Depression, they founded Tilso and remained open until the 1970s. They produced a variety of novelty decor items including ceramics.
